Portuguese Atlantic Coast and Algarve

Finally back on the track again! The Atlantic has us again and seems very well-meaning to us! Wind and waves make the reintroduction very pleasant and the ocean shows itself from its most pleasant side – although it can get a bit fresh at this time of year.

The first stop of our journey was in Sines. This beautiful little town is perfect to relax after the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. This city is also the birthplace of Vasco da Gama – the great explorer and seafarer. A beautiful city – we could love to spend more time here.

Our next destination was Portimao. A rather touristic city in the Algarve. But with a modern marina and good infrastructure. In January, however, many restaurants are closed and it seems a bit deserted. But perhaps this is still more beautiful than the summer time with the many tourists – and we found one pretty nice restaurant to celebrate skippers birthday.

In Faro we anchored and enjoyed the peace. Even if there was a sailing regatta next to our anchorage, it didn’t bother us. On the contrary, it was a great sight and watching it was great fun.
